Teacher Aptitude Test (Secondary) - 2026 Notification

The State Examination Board (SEB), Gandhinagar has officially released the notification for the Teacher Aptitude Test (Secondary) – 2026 . This competitive examination is a mandatory qualification for candidates aspiring to become teachers in registered government and private secondary schools across Gujarat.

Important Dates (Schedule)

Notification Date: February 12, 2026

Online Registration Period: February 18, 2026, to February 27, 2026

Online Fee Payment Deadline: February 28, 2026

Preliminary Exam (MCQ): April 27, 2026

Mains Exam (Descriptive): June 2026

Eligibility Criteria

● Educational Qualification: Candidates must possess the educational and training qualifications prescribed by the State Government for their respective subjects.

● Final Year Students: Candidates currently in the final year of their training qualification (B.Ed. or equivalent) for the academic year 2025-26 are eligible to apply. Their eligibility for recruitment will depend on their final results.

Application Fee

● General Category: ₹500/-

● SC / ST / SEBC / EWS / PH Categories: ₹400/-

● Payment Mode: Fees must be paid exclusively online via Net Banking, Debit/Credit Card, UPI, or Wallet.

Examination Structure

The TAT (Secondary) is a two-tier competitive process:

1. Preliminary Examination (200 Marks)

● Format: Multiple Choice Questions (MCQs).

● Negative Marking: 0.25 marks will be deducted for each incorrect answer.

● Sections:

○ Paper 1 (100 Marks): General Studies (General Knowledge, Teacher Aptitude, Logical Ability, Gujarati and English Language proficiency).

○ Paper 2 (100 Marks): Content and Pedagogy related to the specific subject applied for.

2. Mains Examination (200 Marks)

Only candidates who clear the cut-off in the Preliminary Exam will be eligible.

● Format: Descriptive Written Exam.

● Paper 1 (100 Marks): Language Proficiency (Gujarati for Gujarati medium; English for English medium).

● Paper 2 (100 Marks): Subject Content and Methodology.

Available Subjects & Mediums

● Gujarati Medium: Gujarati, Hindi, English, Social Science, Maths-Science, Sanskrit, Computer, Physical Education, Agriculture.

● English Medium: Gujarati, Hindi, English, Social Science, Maths-Science, Sanskrit, Physical Education.

How to Apply

1. Visit the official portal: http://ojas.gujarat.gov.in.

2. Click on "Apply Online" and select "TAT (Secondary) - 2026".

3. Fill in personal and educational details in English.

4. Upload a scanned photo (max 10kb) and signature (max 10kb).

5. Confirm your application to generate a Confirmation Number.

6. Proceed to "Print Application/Pay Fees" to complete the online payment.
